Never start froma blank prompt.

We're building a library of AI image prompts, each shown with the picture it made. Copy the words, change what you like.

Example slip
  1. a sleeping cat on a windowsill,Subject
  2. soft morning light,Light
  3. 35mm film photo,Camera
  4. muted pastel coloursStyle

02The problem

You can picture it. You can't find the words.

A typical first tryExample

a cat on a windowsill

  • Subject ✓
  • Light —
  • Camera —
  • Style —

One part out of four. Start from words that already made a picture like yours.

So which words does the tool listen to?

Most image tools respond better to short parts than to long sentences: the subject, the light, the camera or medium, and the style. A prompt that works is usually those parts in a row. See one next to its picture and you can tell which part did what.

03How it will work

Find it. Copy it. Change one part.

Step 3, as a diff · example

- a sleeping cat on a windowsill,

+ a bicycle leaning on a blue door,

soft morning light, 35mm film photo,

  muted pastel colours

  1. 01

Find a picture close to yours.

You will browse by the image a prompt made, not by guessing at its words.

  2. 02

    Copy the words behind it.

Every prompt will sit right under the image it made.

  3. 03

    Change one part.

Swap the subject, keep the light, camera and style, and you keep the look.

04Questions

Fair questions.

1Is PromptDrop open yet?

No. The library is still being built, and there are no prompts to browse today. The waitlist on this page works. Join it and we'll email you when the library opens.

2Where will the prompts come from? Is this stolen?

We haven't collected any prompts yet, so there is no source to show you today, and we won't invent one. When the library opens, each prompt will show the image it made, so you can judge it for yourself.

3Free prompt sites already exist. Why wait for this one?

If a free site already gets you the picture you want, use it. PromptDrop is for the moment you can picture the image but can't find the words. Every prompt will sit next to the image it made, so you choose by the look instead of guessing.

4Why not just ask ChatGPT to write my prompt?

You can, and it often helps. But a chatbot writes words that sound right, and you only learn if they work after you generate. A prompt in the library will come with the image it made, so you see the result before you copy it.

5Do I need to be good at writing prompts?

No. That is the idea this is built against. You start from words that already made a picture, then change one part at a time.
